NOVEMBER NEWS
November already - what happened to 2007. It's been a bit of a blur at Transition - frightening to think we have now been open 7 months.
What a 7 months it's been!
- We now have over 1,900 full members
- Thousands more visiting as day members
- Climbing and skatepark well attended and lots of newcomers taking up the respective sports
- 5 major events to date - War of the Thistles Skateboard Comp, On the Map BMX Jam, BRYCS Youth Climbing Comp, Razors Highland Roll In line event and just recently the phenomenal Volcom Stones Wild in the Parks. Not to mention several live gigs and DJ nights. Click Here for Volcom write up and pics.
But enough of the historic stuff - what's going on now and up to year end.
Firstly - we've opened the superb band practice studios, kindly sponsored by Talisman Energy. Full of quality Yamaha and Fender kit and available to book by the hour. Spread the word and come on down for a look. And watch out for a battle of the bands in January 2008.
Our esteemed retailers have been finalising their ranges for Winter - come and see the best in climbing hardware, accessories and clothing; a great range of BMX bikes and safety gear and all you could ever want in skateboard and inline set ups and components. Got to be the easy option for Xmas pressies this year! Click on the Extreme Retail Therapy image to the left, or click here
After several months AWOL Alex Irvine returns to the Transition stable in sound body and mind - with a cracking article..... a Skatespot feature on Kelvingrove (coming soon...)
Craig Mitchell's also been "DAN SAFF" and has penned a nice wee piece on a couple of skateparks from his yoof.
Whats coming up?
- Remember the regular Bouldering League - Click here for info.
- SNAFU Radio school night
- "Don't wreck it" MAJOR event in association with Crime Stoppers - 5 live bands, major skatepark session, free food, free climbing sampler session and lots more (Fri 30 Nov)
- LAKAI 'FULLY FLARED' DVD PREMIERE PLUS 'BAM CITY JAM' COMP (1 Dec)
- Osiris Film Premiere: Feed the Need (Fri 6th Dec)
- Blueprint pro demo - TBA - watch this space
It's all happening.
So - thanks for making the first 7 months so great and make sure we see a lot more of you over the winter season!!
Remember - Transition is a Registered Charity and we depend on your support to keep it all going. I hope you have already seen evidence of us reinvesting in the centre - more new climbing holds, transition wall and new ledges and ramps in the skatepark.
Cheers
Neil
